The Gotheray

Novel Version                    Technical Version

This piece represents the third in our range or bio-weapons built as part of a growing props pool that we are gathering for a forthcoming short film production -based on a short story, written by the site owner.

Work is being carried out between projects for the moment, so progress is staggered.
The first prop constructed was the Bio-gauntlet late in 1999, followed shortly after by the bio-dagger 1999-2000.  However, since then, we have had time to rethink the desired look that we wanted to achieve, and so the Bio-pistol (aka The Gotheray) now represents far more clearly the direction in which we are going to take this.

Still in keeping with the look of all the work we have put together so far (both displayed on this site, as well as all the mounting set design, costumes, etc.), we have retained the raptor like claws, in keeping with the alien look; but allowed ourselves more freedom to expand on the theme so far, by introducing many artificial implants, and deadening the whole look completely.  The single eye feature was also retained on this model (albeit concealed).  You can just about make it out on the base of the hand grip, reduced to a boney eye socket for the purpose of this piece.

Coupling claw.

I also change my materials on this model.
Milliput was used this time only on small surfaces or to join some of the more delicate areas.  The majority of the prop was constricted in oil based clay, and then a cast was made; from this the general shape of the object was set.
All the fine texturing and detail was achieved with 'Super Sulpy'.

Status: DECEASED -but kept functioning via implants.
